Our Founder

 

Somos Thompson, founded Design.District to create a platform for youth to explore an opportunity that was void during his adolescent years in inner city Washington D.C. 

 

Mr. Somos, is an apparel designer with 9+ years of experience that includes co-creating a clothing line, Blac Label, which made $50+ million dollars at retail in 2006-2010. His consulting portfolio has included Marc Ecko and other high end street wear brands.

 

Our Teacher

 

Courtney Savoy is a professional web/graphic design Artist in the MD/DC/VA metro area with her company “Alist Graphics” that specializes in painting, drawing, graphic design, web design and development, flash multimedia, search engine optimization (SEO), promotion, marketing, and art direction.

 

Ms. Savoy has been rewarded and recognized to be a highly effective teacher in the DC public school system teaching secondary Art.  Courtney started her teacher career teaching Summer Bridge African American painting at University of Maryland College Park brining her total years of teaching in the DC metro area to 10 years
